En un acuerdo con el astillero italiano Fincantieri, Princess Cruises construirá dos nuevos barcos de nueva generación, diseñados para mejorar aún más la experiencia vacacional de sus huéspedes. Las nuevas construcciones están programadas para entregarse a fines de 2023 y en la primavera de 2025, respectivamente.
Princess Cruises construirá dos nuevos barcos
Los nuevos buques serán los primeros barcos de Princess Cruises con doble combustible, principalmente a través de Gas Natural Licuado (LNG), la tecnología de combustible más respetuosa con el medioambiente de la industria marina y el combustible fósil más limpio del mundo, que reducirá significativamente las emisiones atmosféricas y gasoil marino (MGO).
«Esta plataforma revolucionaria para buques de crucero de última generación presentará experiencias innovadoras de diseño y ocio impulsadas por las futuras tendencias de vacaciones y estilo de vida de nuestros huéspedes». dijo Jan Swartz, presidente de Princess Cruises.
Los barcos serán de 175,000 toneladas brutas y acomodarán aproximadamente 4,300 invitados (literas más bajas). Los detalles del diseño del barco, las características y comodidades, se compartirán en el futuro.
Giuseppe Bono, CEO de Fincantieri, dijo: «Nos enorgullece extender nuestra asociación de larga data con Princess Cruises. Estamos listos para ingresar a una nueva era de esta industria, cada vez más dirigida a reducir nuestro impacto ambiental. Estamos orgullosos de que este proyecto sea un récord, tanto en términos de tamaño como de tecnología».
Nuevos barcos para la clase Royal de Princess Cruises
Además, Princess Cruises tiene tres nuevos barcos de clase Royal en orden con Fincantieri. Incluido su próximo nuevo barco, Sky Princess, que se encuentra actualmente en construcción y cuya entrega está programada para octubre de 2019. Los otros dos buques de clase Royal se entregarán en 2020 y 2022.
Los cruceros de próxima generación de Princess Cruises representan el décimo y undécimo contratados por Carnival Corporation y forman parte de la estrategia actual de mejorar la flota de la compañía.
Carnival Corporation tiene actualmente 20 nuevos barcos bajo contrato y programados para entrega entre 2018 y 2025.
